- The meeting takes place march 11th and 12th. The first day will be dedicated to transport issues.
The ministers will deal with the following land transport and aviation issues:
In the field of land transport, they are due to reach a general approach on a draft directive on
transportable pressure equipment. The draft directive is designed to update and streamline the
provisions of a directive adopted in 1999 in order to enhance transport safety for such equipment
and to ensure their free movement in the single market.
In the aviation sector, they will try to reach a general approach as regards a draft regulation on
investigation and prevention of accidents and incidents in civil aviation. The draft regulation aims to
ensure expeditious and high-quality safety investigations in order to prevent future accidents.
The Council will also be briefed by the Commission on the state of play of the negotiations on
a second-stage air services agreement with the US, which is to further develop the EU-US "Open
Skies" agreement signed in 2007.
