Programme

International conference on 26 and 27 April focusing on two major issues: urban sustainability (with a report on the status of the studies undertaken by the European Reference Framework for Sustainable Cities) and integral urban rehabilitation, with special emphasis on their connections to climate change, the promotion of social cohesion and the economic recovery strategy. After the institutional opening session and a series of framework presentations, the conference will unfold in two parallel Sessions: one devoted to the challenge of sustainability in European cities and another devoted to integrated urban rehabilitation as a new paradigm for urban development in Europe. There will be a presentation of the policies and programmes implemented in those European countries which have been the most innovative in these areas, as well as of specific actions and good practices (eco-neighbourhoods, rehabilitation work carried out in historical centres and in tower blocks built between the 50’s and 70’s, etc.), with the inclusion of examples from Spain.
