The Spanish Minister of the Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs, Elena Espinosa believes it is important that the Spanish Presidency of the EU, during its six month's term, works towards immediately implementing the Copenhagen Accord in the fight against climate change.
The minister was appearing before the European Parliament's plenary session in Strasbourg (France) to present the results of the last Climate Summate held in Copenhagen and the current challenges facing the EU.
Elena Espinosa defended strengthening the role of the United Nations as a forum for dialogue and decision-making, as a means of resolving the global challenges in the fight against climate change, in line with the long-held position of the EU.
